Drake ganhou na madrugada deste domingo, 13 prémios nos Billboard Music Awards, em Las Vegas, batendo o anterior recorde de 12 galardões conquistados por Adele. O rapper levou os prémios de “top artist”, “top male artist” e “top Billboard 200 álbum” com “View”, entre outros.
A 25º edição do Billboard Music Awards reuniu algumas das principais estrelas da música no T-Mobile Arena, em Las vegas. O canadiano bateu Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Adele, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, Twenty One Pilots, Shawn Mendes e Chainsmokers na categoria de “top artist”.
O prémio de “top artist” foi apresentado por Prince Jackson, filho do falecido músico Michael Jackson.
A homenageada da noite com o foi Cher, que recebeu o prêmio de Ícone da Música e cantou o hit Believe e If I Could Turn Back Time.
Durante a gala foi observado um minuto de silêncio por Chris Cornell, vocalista das bandas Soundgarden e Audioslave, que morreu na semana passada.
Apresentado pelo rapper Ludacris e pela atriz e cantora Vanessa Huggens, o evento contou com muitas apresentações musicais, a começar por Nicki Minaj, que cantou Light My Body Up com David Guetta e Lil Wayne, e Swalla com Jason Derulo.
